• I just installed this plugin, and today I got 700 email notifications of an attack from just one host. After the first two lockouts it was made permanent

    Dear Site Admin,

A host, 144.76.130.225, has been locked out of the WordPress site at xxxxxx due to too many attempts to access a file that does not exist.

The host has been locked out permanently .

Yet after that there are about 700 attempts from the same IP, once every few seconds.

How can this happen if they are locked out?

    +1

Have had this problem also, though not to the degree as the OP.

This used to be a great plugin until iThemes bought it. Any idea how to get the old 3.x version?

Every month or so I check back to this forum to see if it’s safe to update to the latest…NOPE not yet!

Go to the “developers” tab (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-wp-security/developers/) and scroll down to 3.6.6. I then modify the main file’s version declaration to say “9993.6.6” so I don’t get any more nagging about an update being available.

Hey, you guys are lucky. I don’t even get the emails… 404 detection is not working at all for me.

3.6.4 is a better version than 3.6.6. I believe they broke 404 detection in 3.6.5.
