707 Permissions

  • I normally have folders set to 755 except for ‘uploads’ being set to 775… and then files set to 644. I find this all seems to happen automatically on most WordPress sites that I set up regardless of who they’re hosted with.

    However on a job I’m currently working on the permissions are much different, I think something to do with the hosting account itself (defaults perhaps).

    On this one, files are set to 604 and folders (including uploads) are all set to 707.

    Does this sound secure or should I switch the permissions to what I normally have?
