• As the subject suggests. I have, what appears to be, an excess number of table entries. Many of the options table names have a suffix of wp_x_options, wp_y_x_options, or wp_z_y_x_options. All of the entries with x have the same siteURL. For example wp_2_options and wp_3_2_options and wp_4_2_options all have a siteURL of SiteA.com while wp_3_options, wp_4_3_options and wp_8_4_3_options would all have siteURL of SiteB.com.

With this in mind, is this part of WP’s backup or revions?

Does anyone know if I can delete all the table entries that have more than wp_X_? Can I delete tables starting with wp_z_y_x_ and wp_y_x_?

    Have a great day.

  • It sounds like a plugin is responsible, and NOT WP. You’ll have to run the same experiment with only 1 plugin activated at a time. Read https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Managing_Plugins#Troubleshooting. When you find which plugin is causing the extra tables, you’ll have to do more battle with the author(s), find another plugin, or stop using the plugin. Please post when you find which plugin, or combination of plugins, caused your prolific tables issue. Others may benefit from your experience.

At this point, can I delete the tables that have prefixes of wp_z_y_x or wp_z_y, with x, y, z being numbers. I won’t delete wp_x.

I don’t see why not. If you need the ‘errant tables’ for troubleshooting, it appears you have no problem recreating them.
