Problem with RAM usage and some other error

  • Hi, I am new to WP so please bear with me.

    A friend of mine is running WP on one of the servers I manage and since WP is running there it is using RAM like crazy.

    The server itself is normally idle and barely using any RAM. The WP site is not getting that many visitors maybe 5k daily to non static sites.

    The server is a P4 with 1GB RAM, Apache 1.3.36, PHP 4.4.2 and MySQL 4.1.19. The OS is a customized Debain.

    Another problem is this one:
    *** glibc detected *** corrupted double-linked list: 0x086cf8f0 ***
    *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x080d1dd0 ***

    Those erros show up in dozens when they come, causing very high load.

    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Your second problem isn’t WP related (WP really couldn’t give a poo about glibc, but your apache and mysql probably do) but might be indicative to your memory usage issue… I’d try and get that fixed first by seeking help at more technical forums.

    Well the thing is that the second problem only shows up when WP is in use. When i disable WP the problem is not showing up. I am aware of the fact that this is normally a message from a script / program in C , maybe some WP module ?

    WP is purely PHP.

    Do you have other Apache/PHP/MySQL apps running on that server?

    In the bluehost forum they had the same glibc errors in combination with a WP install but unfortunenatly they did not say where they came from.
