9.0.15 stops any update by mainwp in a child site. Back to 9.0.14 and everything is fine.

  • Hi,

I’m not clear about what the problem would be with MainWP, could you be a little more specific about it?

    Thanks

When 9.0.15? is installed on websites that are managed by mainwp, you cannot any longer update any plugin from mainwp admin. You get an error (red cross, long line of text partially displayed) when you try to do so.

I should have screenshot the error.

cannot post pictures here, the line (partially displayed) says :

“WP Child not detected or could not be reached! Ensure the MainWP Child plugin is installed and activated on the child site, and there are no security rules blocking requests. If you continue experiencing issues check the <a href= “

Any update with any plugin from mainwp admin is broken.

As soon as I install back 9.0.14 on the child site, everything is back to normal. I can update whatever I want from Mainwp admin.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay,

Looking at the given error message, it could be that MainWP had network connectivity issue with your child site, I’m not sure which side, could be a network issue either on your child site side or on MainWP side?. I can’t see any problem of the changes being made in EUM 9.0.15 that can cause MainWP to break. Could you please try to update your EUM plugin to 9.0.15 version and see if the issue still persists?, also there might be some kind of log you could ask from the MainWP support when the error message occurs, which might be useful for tracking down the problem.

    Thanks

No prob Anthonious, but as I explained :

“As soon as I install back 9.0.14 on the child site, everything is back to normal. I can update whatever I want from Mainwp admin.”

So I don’t think it’s coming from MainWP. It seems that in 9.0.15, something is stopping me to update from MainWP, in ALL my child sites. When I install back 9.0.14 in the child sites I can update again. I also posted in MainWP support page.

Thanks anyway, for the time being I ‘ll keep 9.0.14 on all my sites.

I confirm this as well. MainWP won’t update my site that has Easy Downloads Manager, either.

Now that the issue has been confirmed, any chance to get a fix?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I already passed this to the development team, and fortunately, after some time trying, the team has managed to reproduce the issue, and is currently working on a fix right now.

    Thanks

As our development team are now working on a fix, I am going to close this thread. Please refer to the plugins Changelog for further updates.

“Please refer to the plugins Changelog for further updates.”

I did and I did not see a mention of the fix in .16. Could you please confirm it’s there ?

    Hi @groovyx9,

Yes, it’s the MPSUM_Logs::normalise_call_stack_args() would overwrite any arguments that were passed by reference (pointer variables). thus resulting in misleading or seriously wrong data. We couldn’t be specific with what plugins and/or themes getting affected by the issue, but we believed it wasn’t just MainWP, it may occurred to other plugins and/or themes too.

    Thanks

Thanks Anthon, I can confirm that indeed it is fixed with MainWP!

I was able to update a plugin from MainWP. I use your plugin as a security to make sure that NO plugin will update by itself on my websites, letting me pick from MainWP admin the plugins I want to update.

So your plugin is really important for me. Thanks a lot. I’ll bring the good news to MainWP support.

    Hi @groovyx9

I’m glad that it resolved the issue for you. Cheers!
