    OK that above is the familiar error message pointing to a problem on the first line of “._info.php”.

    My question concerns the “._info.php” file – apparently this is a Mac OS feature regarding resource forks for files. I cannot see this file either on my computer, nor on my webhoster even with “show invisible files” toggled ON.

    So the first problem is I can’t see the file to check the first line!

    Second question: the install works perfectly on my laptop running MAMP. If I upload these exact files (with the exception of a wp-config.php file adjusted to my webhosts criteria, of course) the error appears.

    So… any advice? I’ve tweaked my K2 theme and would hate to start from scratch but at this point the only thing I haven’t tried is a new raw install of the basic package to see if I can get that to work. Oh… and I’ve already deleted all plugins to no avail.

    Third question: in checking the unedited downloaded WordPress 2.5 files, quite a number of them seem to have an extra space or line after the last ?>. Problem?

    Thanks!

    huh… no way to edit posts?

    I can see the dot-underscore files now. Just needed to refresh Cyberduck (ftp client). How do I upload from mac to non-mac systems and avoid creating the extra files? How to keep WordPress from trying to execute them? All the dot-underscore files have bogus non-.php text in the first line.

    Ha.

    <talking to self….>

    Just to wrap this up.

    <hate loose ends…>

    It’s all working fine now with a re-install. No idea why! Time to move on with an adieu to all my WP pals.
