A '404' When Trying to Log In

I’ve been using version 4.1.5 for a while now and everything was fine. This morning I logged in and I get a 404. Using my FTP, I removed the .htaccess file thinking that was the problem….no dice. I uploaded it again. I then disabled the plugin by re-naming the plugin and that worked.

I’m not using the Hide Backend, so why did I get locked out? I’m about ready to move to a different plugin.
