• Hello,

I’m looking for some options to improve the default Paypal payment gateway. I’ve looked at your add-on services, but most of them require SSL, except WePay. Ideally, we would like to redirect to a secure payment site that has a better usability in place than Paypal. Right now we have been getting our donations abandoned mid-way, because of the unintuitive 2-step system within Paypal..Our donation page is located here: https://www.wingsofhopeforafrica.ca/donate

I’ve emailed back and forth with your add-on WePay in hopes of getting a demo, and the exchange was both bizzare and unproductive. I’m very confused right now.

I want you to be aware of what transpired and hear your thoughts and options on what product we could use in their place. I removed the names and email addresses for privacy. They have not responded after my last email.

This was the conversation (most recent first):

    Hi ,

“as we provide platforms the ability to give their customers a way to accept payments”

That is what we are looking for. We use the Give donation plugin on our website, which has your product as an add-on to provide a smoother experience. Currently, the plugin redirects to a PayPal donation page, which has 2 steps required to donate, and is rather unintuitive. We’d like the process to be shorter.

This is why I asked you for a demo, though I admit I’m a bit put off right now.

    Regards,

    Hi,

To be sure that I have the right information, you are only looking for a gateway integration, correct?

WePay would not be a good fit for that model, as we provide platforms the ability to give their customers a way to accept payments. GoFundMe and Freshbooks are good examples.

We do operate in Canada. Apologies for the confusion.

    Thanks,

Hi .. this is strange. We’re located in Canada, and so are our sponsors.

I will look at other solutions.

Hey @canuckcuisine – Please accept my apologies for the late reply. It sounds like you have spoken directly to WePay, not our Give support team and they may have been causing some of the confusion there from what I read above.

WePay is a decent gateway, although one downside is that we don’t currently yet support recurring donations through their API. It sounds like SSL is the only issue from a smoother donation experience? If so, that’s too bad as I would definitely recommend Stripe as a solid gateway which support recurring donations.

PayPal Standard’s interface isn’t the best that’s for sure – and in the future we’ll be adding more gateways which offer a similar, but better, offsite payment option. WePay currently is the only option for this at the moment.

Thanks for your question and for using Give. Please let me know if I can help any further.
