    Hi
I’m a total newbie to WordPress so forgive me if the answer is obvious, I’m hoping it will be easy.

My friend has a WordPress blog and she’d like to make it a site where anyone can sign-up to post blog entries. The one caveat is that in the sign-up process the have to agree to a customized disclaimer. And of course the user has only access to create/edit/delete the blog posts they create.

    so in short:
    A. Allow anyone to freely register on her blog
    B. limit their access to create & edit/delete only those posts that they creates
    C. customized disclaimer in the registration process

I’ve done some searching and it looks like “register plus” might be a good plugin that will allow this. But I just wanted to make sure. And I wanted to get opinions on other methods/plugins

  • Even i want the answer to the above question.

    Someone please help. ??

    Hi,

    A. You can go to Settings > General and then click the box next to “Anyone can register”.

    B. Underneath the above setting there’s another one to set the default role of a new user. Set that to “Author”.

    C. Like you said, install Register plus and you’ll be able to customise the rest of your register process.

That should be all you need. If you want to create custom roles then I can recommend the members-only plugin from Justin Tadlock, but I think you can complete the task without the use of that.

    Cheers,
    Steve

    thanks
