• Twenty Twenty-Two has an option to export your theme when you’ve configured it to your liking. But then there is no option to import it. Or at least I haven’t found it.

You install the plugin to create a child-theme, but when you activate that child-theme to start working with it, you see that most of the settings are lost, and you have to go back to the original theme.

The theme comes with several headers, but when you change one of them and press save, it is saved in that header and in all headers. This makes it impossible for some pages of the website to have a header, and other pages a different header. I want to make a website that has a header on some pages and another header on other pages, but it’s not working for me.

This beta version of Twenty Twenty-Two is still a bunch of nonsense. When the developers improve this theme, I will raise the score without problem.

Hi @magmlinares – I’d be glad to help!

You can do this by creating a custom page template, and then applying it to your desired page(s).

There are two spots from which to create a custom page template.

Option 1) From Editor > Browse All Templates > Add New > Custom Template

    Templates Self hosted Test WordPress

    OR:

Option 2) From Pages, select any page, or Add New. Then choose Template > Add template

Cursor and Edit Page Self hosted Test WordPress

Once you’ve created your custom template with the new header, you can apply it to your desired pages by selecting it from the template drop-down menu on those pages:

Cursor and Edit Page Self hosted Test WordPress

For creating child themes of a block theme (like Twenty Twenty-Two) I recommend using the Create Block theme plugin:

If you run into further issues with Twenty Twenty-Two you’ve very welcome to make a post in the support forum. Cheers!

    Custom templates.

I insist: Either with option 1) or with option 2), the previous template adopts the structure of the template created by the user. Or put another way: If I want to have a “page 1” (which comes with the theme) and, in addition, I create a “custom page” (such as “custom template”), the “page 1” is lost, it disappears, because it is automatically transformed into the “custom page”, and as “custom page” it is displayed on the entire website. I am unable to explain it better. Sorry.

    Creating a child theme.

Regarding the use of the “Create block theme” plugin, I receive the message that it is not tested for my version of WordPress, and I am using version 6.1, which is the latest.

Hi @magmlinares apologies for the delay in replying; I was travelling.

Regarding the use of the “Create block theme” plugin, I receive the message that it is not tested for my version of WordPress, and I am using version 6.1, which is the latest.

Thank you very much for noticing that. I’ve requested that the developers update the WordPress version, as the plugin should work fine with 6.1.

As for your issue with custom templates, if you have a live example of the issue you’re describing that I could take a look at, that would be super helpful. Or perhaps would you be willing to record a little screencast so I can get a better understanding of what you mean? (You could use Loom – https://www.loom.com/ – or your preferred screencast recording app.)

    Thank you!
