Hi, I think I may be running into the same or a similar issue with Editing posts that was discovered in other threads.

My Author’s have “Can Edit” and “Frontier Edit” privileges. “Can page” and “Show admin bar” are left blank for Authors. When they click on one of their published posts to make a change to it, there is no Edit link available. So there is no way for them to edit the post. They need to be able to edit their draft, pending, and published posts through Frontier Post.

I am running Frontier Post version 3.8.1.

    Thank you!!

    Hi,

I have now implemented a solution based on a setting in advanced settings, to solve the issues for super admins (multisite).

    version 3.8.6

I have tried to document the logic here: https://wpfrontier.com/frontier-post-edit-link/

    Does it make sense ?

Your problem seems to be for authors – the standard WordPress edit link display is out-of-my-control, I can only change where it links to.

As for when then edit link or icon in the Frontier Post lists, I have tried to documnent the logic here:

Hi, well, I ended up trying to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress 4.4.1 and it has caused all sorts of craziness. I did this because my development site is running 4.3.1 and works fine with your version 3.8.6 of Frontier Post. Both the Edit button and the Roles are working properly. However, I won’t know for sure until I fix the problems that the upgrade caused my website.

I’m working with my hosting services now. I’ll let you know just as soon as I’m back online. Thank you for being conscientious and reaching out to me. I really appreciate it!

Hi, I finally got my upgrade working. I’m now running WordPress 4.4.1 with FP 3.8.6. My development environment is running WordPress 4.3.1 with FP 3.8.6.

The custom taxonomy roles appears to be working.

I think I’ve narrowed down the Edit button issue. In WordPress 4.4.1, my Authors can see the Edit button while the Post is in Draft or Pending Review mode. As soon as the post gets published they can no longer see the Edit button to change or update the post. As an FYI, through the dashboard, the post still shows the original Author’s name, even though the Editor changed the status to Published and saved.

In WordPress 4.3.1, the Edit button is available to the Authors even after the post has been published. This is the functionality that I need to have.

So is this a problem with WordPress or Frontier Post?

    Thank you!

I am assuming that you refer to the edit link on the Frontier Post list (My Posts)

Please check the option in Frontier Post settings:
Allow users to change status from Published

Needs to be checked to allow users to edit a published post.

    Also check:
Allow edit of posts with comments
Max age in days to allow edit of post

Administrators often forget these two settings can block the ability to edit posts

This somehow conflicts with the fact that users are not allowed to publish posts, so I am not entirely sure how it works – Sorry

User might have to have “can publish” to edit a published post – I cant test this right now

I checked and those options were already set.

I want to clarify where this happening, however. When a user clicks on one of their links from the Frontier My Post widget, it takes them to the actual post. That’s where the Edit button would normally be. There is no Edit button on the Frontier My Posts list, as far I’ve seen. Unless I’ve missed an option.

    Does that make sense?

    yes and no

the edit button in the pist itself is controlled by the Theme, and generally shown if the user has the standard wordpress capability edit_posts, unless hidden by theme (maybe by an opion in the theme) – Frontier Post does not change this, I believe ??

you can see a list of each of the roles Frontier Pist and standard capabilities in the Frontier settings menu under debug info

There should be edit, delete and view links/icons on the Frontier Post list (my posts)

Maybe you have bypassed this by just using mode=”add” so you do not show the list at all – you can check this by adding a page just with the “clean” shortcode [frontier-post]

you can view a screenshot of the list here under the tab screenshots

Ahhh, an interesting thing has happened.
I have the checked the box for the option “Show icons instead of text for edit/delete/view in list.” But I also have included the mode=”add” in the shortcode. I did this because then the form is displayed in a manner that looks better with my theme (Nirvana). I can send you images of the form with and without the mode=add if you’d like, so you can see the difference.

When I removed the mode=”add” from the shortcode, I see a list of the persons posts, with the icons. Then when I click on the Edit icon, it works.

Is there some way to include the icons in the Frontier My Posts widget?

    Thank you!

    Yes please send

I will consider edit icons in the widget for the next release, give me a couple of weeks – you will most likely have ro tweek the output in widget with css – Themes are so different, and mixing text and icons will look very different

But again it make sense, so I will look at it.

    Hi,

It was easier than I anticipated.

I have added the option to add a edit icon before/after in Frontier My Posts Widget.

I have released version 3.8.7.5 – It is not yet the stable version, so you wont get an upgrade notice – You will have to use FTP to upload it.

You can download it from the developer tab here :
    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/frontier-post.3.8.7.5.zip

Let me know if meet your requirements.

Hi, I wasn’t able to get it working. I uploaded it to my server and extracted the files to frontier-post plugin folder, but I’m not seeing a change in the widget when I go back into Widgets and add the Frontier My Posts widget it not showing an option to add the edit icon.

Did I do something wrong on the install?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Just tested, and it worked for me, by uploading using FTP

Widget settings should look like this:
    https://wpfrontier.com/pluginupload/my_posts_widget_set.png

    And the output:

    Just to be sure,

you need to unzip the zip file, and overwrite the frontier-post directory in /yoursite/wp-contents/plugins/

It works! You are amazing! Thank you so very much!!! I will mark this as resolved.
Again, thank you for all of your help!
