    Issue 1

I have used this plugin on my website for over 10 years. Working smoothly, no issues.

Today I was creating some redirects for my social media bios, and I found out that redirects built using your plugin do not work on Instagram bios. Somehow they work on Twitter, tiktok, youtube, etc. But on Instagram, they don’t. If you click the redirect from the instagram bio it goes to the homepage of the site where the plugin is installed. I have been trying this all day.

So I decided to try something different and I manually added the 301 redirect in htaccess. This way the redirect works on Instagram, but it’s not tracking the hits.

    Issue 2

When I realized the above (that the hits were not tracked with the 301 redirect manually added in htaccess matching the same one in my redirection dashboard) I deleted that redirect from htaccess.

But, issue 2, now none of my hundreds of redirects are tracking hits anymore. I dont know what happened, but after I removed that line of code from htaccess (the same line of code I had added and then removed), now clicks are still redirecting, but they’re not tracked. None of them, including redirects I have in place for a decade.

What could I do to address 1) and 2) ?

I am using redirection Version 3.4

If you are using version 3.4 then the first thing is to update – that is almost pre-historic.

Once you’ve done that you can use the ‘ignore query parameters’ feature:

    https://redirection.me/support/matching-a-url/

I can’t say about the second thing without more details. It is unlikely that modifying the .htaccess had any effect as hits aren’t tracked like that. Have you disabled the option to track hits? Do you get log entries for them?

I have updated both wordpress and plugin and I used the “ignore all parametes” setting and the redirect now works also on instagram.

About the other issue, it fixed itself with the update.

Is it possible to reset the hit count for some redirects?

    Thank you!

Sure, you can use the bulk action ‘reset hits’.
