• Hi,

I had recently mapped my website to wordpress.com but after learning I couldn’t upload my own themes I went down the www.ads-software.com route. My domain was pointing towards wordpress.com but after some help from 1&1 from whom I bought the domain I was able to set up the www.ads-software.com stuff.

I deleted the account I had with wordpress.com because I didn’t think they could run simultaneously and I thought that because my nameservers were no longer pointing towards wordpress.com it wouldn’t make a difference. The problem now is that I can login with my new account but after about 15mins of use it’ll say something like ‘This WordPress user has deleted this site’. I’m using the same login as my previous account which was probably a stupid idea in hindsight.

I don’t know if that makes sense at all but can someone explain how I can fix this if you understand what I mean. My feeling is that perhaps it hasn’t registered that one has been deleted and that’s why it keeps jumping between both because one minute you go onto the site and it’s the old theme and then next time you go onto the site and it’s the new theme.

The website in question is https://www.wearedope.co.uk (no content on it as of yet, still a new site).

    Thank you.

  • Are you logging in via https://wearedope.co.uk/wp-login.php

    Yes I am.

It’ll let me login and use it for about 15-20mins then I’ll click on something and it’ll say the user has deleted this site.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I don”t think the plugins are the problem as it was happening before the plugins same with the theme.

I’ve never used FTP or PhpMyAdmin properly to fully know what I’d have to do.

    (Sorry)

I’m sorry but there is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting and is a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

There really isn’t much we can offer as an alternative with so little information

I completely understands. It just happened again as I tried to change one of my settings.

    The error message isL

    wearedopeuk.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

wearedopeuk.wordpress.com being what I was using before hand.

Is it at all possible that WordPress is perhaps tripping out because I used the same login for wearedopeuk.wordpress.com as I did for https://wearedope.co.uk/wp-login.php (though I used different email addresses).

What urls are entered in Settings -> General?

Have you spoken to your hosts about this? How long ago did you switch the domain name over to your self-hosted site?

    (@fifilaua)

    No I haven’t as I didn’t think it was a problem for 1&1 – perhaps I should give them a call.

I changed the name servers back to 1&1 yesterday.

I changed the name servers back to 1&1 yesterday.

Ah! It may take another 2 days for this change to fully propagate.
