I installed this plugin. It’s very good. But I am confused about these things. Sorry if my questions sound naive. I am not a coder.

    Visitor identification
Say visitor A visits the site from ip address 66.249.67.182 which is his/her public ip address. Now that ip address maybe shared by someone else since it is a dynamic ip provided by his/her internet service provider. So will the plugin create another prospect (visitor B), or show it under the same prospect as before?

    Opening in private window
I use Internet explorer. In that when I open an InPrivate window, a new prospect is created. Why so? Can’t the plugin detect that it is the same person? What is taken into consideration (ip, browser, email address..) while creating a new prospect?

    Thanks.

Hi Janvi, the plugin is completely cookie based. So in the first example, if the people use different browsers (or computers in the case you mentioned) they’ll be counted as separate people.

In the event that the same person uses 2 computers initially the system will think they are different prospects. If/when that person logs into the admin panel or submits a form using the same email address when using those two computers, the system will realize they are the same person and collapse them into a single identity – combining their event histories along the way.

Your second example is related to the above explanation. When you opened a private browsing session, the cookie from the previous session wasn’t available so from the system’s perspective it thought it was a completely new prospect.

P.S. I am always looking for ways to improve/enhance the product so if you have a wish list please let me know ??
