A great rating plugin with room to grow

  • Rating is very reliable, nice that it’s AJAX-based, and it’s useful to be able to switch between IP address saving or not, as it can then be used on networks all sharing the same IP address. Improvements could come in the form of better integration with caching plugins (via extensions) and the ability to update multiple counters on a single page.

    Great suggestions on improvements. I’m working on the caching part, once that is done will look into the multiple counter feature.

    Yes perhaps a combined plugin (I’ve used a couple of those)… Do plugin creators ever join up?!

    Well from my end that would not happen, but being a GPL plugin, I guess someone could take the code and write an extension plugin or simply tweak and release a new version.
    Allowing basic liking a post is one thing, but communicating with external API, is totally different.

    I had something like that setup on a previous website – when you rated a film you could then update your Facebook or Twitter I think. I might take a look into writing this as a plugin, but this would be my first stab at writing one… It would be really nice if it did link into your plugin tho, so that you could ultimately set it up so that it would either only recommend on the site itself, or if you could choose to link it in with the social media platforms which you use too.
