a little image at the top of my blog.hard?

  • Hello there,
    Im afraid im a total newbie when it comes to this so please bear with me. What I want to do must be pretty simple but all this is a bit new. What I want to do is put a little image up at the top of my blog like i have seen on others here……like https://www.zarkoff.com/wrote/ that guys…..only mine would have a fish ??

    and im really quite happy with the boring old ordinary template other than the top bit. Can anyone give me some fairly simple instructions on how to do it?

    Aha, Fantastic!!
    Hmmm, Ive messed around with it for a while now. I followed the instructions but cant seem toget the imag eto show up. I cant figure out how to get the online editor to save so I just did it through wordpad? was that right?
    Anyway, it still didnt work any ideas?

    When you login, and click Templates, the screen that appears will have your ‘index.php’ displayed in the editor box by default, and on the bottom left corner will be a smallish greyed box with ‘Update’ written in it.
    So you need to enter ‘wp-layout.css’ into the box to the left of ‘go’ so that the CSS file is displayed, then when you have made changes, click Update.
    If you get a warning that the file is not updateable and needs to be CHMOD’d, then you will need to use an FTP program to set the file permission for wp-layout.css to 766.

    I would upload the image you want – either by FTP or by using the Upload feature – check it is in the main WP directory, and then go change the CSS file in the correct sections.
    Shout if you hit any more difficulties ??

    Thats fantastic, I didnt realise it could be so straightforward!!
    Do you think that jpeg that im using in the header is too big a file size?
    Hmmmm what else can i do?

    The last image on the right is not being shown, and if you want it to be, you’ll have to drop the menu down a few pixels.
    Now you know what to do though, you can play with it as much as you want ??
    Filesize ? Nah.. 37K is fine I’d say.
    And as for what else ? Up to you !
