I love the Event Calendar and have used for a year, I don’t know what has improved it’s a real mess for me. Using on a staging site for testing and can’t go live with this.

    Staging site

    Summary:

Month view doesn’t activate at all from the ‘picker’

List view: Identical settings to previous live version on westbridgfordwire.com/events – but are version styles awfully with no ‘separators’ between them – no horizontal separator between events, see other site at westbridgfordwire.com/events for comparison

Maps: Do not show in event

Mainly I think the list view styling is the issue, the main site looks great but the staging as you can see doesn’t.

For clarification – Month view can be invoked by choosing it as the only daft option in settings – but it arrives hugely sized and disappears even behind the sidebar ads.

I think I need a lot of help before updating.

    Best wishes

    Pat

    Howdy Pat,

I am happy to hear you like the plugin. We’d love to help ease your upgrade issues as best as possible.

I am noticing 36 errors in my browser console when visiting your site. It looks like an enormous portion of your theme’s CSS and JS files are missing, and returning 404 errors instead of the files. That’s causing the issues currently on the site. Is that perhaps also the cause of your initial issue? If you restore or create all of those files, does it work properly?

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the reply Brook.

I don’t really understand as my tech knowledge limited, but if I show error console just SumoMe share bar and Google Adsense show as errors – I’ll re-migrate to staging and try again and send screen grabs if still an issue.

I don’t understand restore and create but happy to try if it helps and you can explain – Calendar left at previous version because it’s so relied upon by visitors

    Thanks

    Hey Pat,

I’d love to clarify. Basically a lot of files on your server, specifically a number of Javascript and CSS files, are missing. Maybe the transer was interruped, or they somehow got deleted? I see files missing from both your theme and plugins. You could probably restore these by deleting the theme and plugins, and reinstalling them. Or perhaps have a backup you could restore? Backups are always the safest route.

    Cheers!

Something is now making sense – are your comments ref missing CSS/Javascript files specifically in relation to the staging site – that is the first link I posted – not the one that says ‘see other site for comparison’? If so then yes – the staging migration could well have issues as it was interrupted by GoDaddy with white screen issues at the hosts end. I’d forgotten this. I remember calling them that day ??

So in essence I haven’t tried the plugin on the live site – I’ll migrate another staging and test again if it is that version you saw missing files in

    Thanks very much Brook

Above is the staging site migrated today – still really bad – events can be found on westbridgfordwire.com/events on previous version all is fine

    Thanks

No change at all Brook – migrated again today and still poor appearance

Do you mean the missing files are still evident on westbridgfordwire.com ? That’s the live site running previous version, not the staging one?

    Thanks

    Hi Pat,

    Sorry for the issues.

I could not see the staging site so not sure what the issues are.

How is the staging site setup?

Are you using the live site’s database?

Do you have any caching on the live site that is transfer to the staging?

Let us know and we can try to help out.

    Thanks

    Hi Brian

GoDaddy Managed WordPress allows for a full clone so yes everything in this case – database plugins content

I don’t want to switch the plugin on main site until I get to a fix…or would you recommend that I do that?

No cache plugins – but use MaxCdn – cached at host – I have flushed host cache and purged can edge files too.

Ibermenu has caused other style type issues but I’ve removed that now use theme default – WP-Prosperity is theme great author and helpful guy – never usually have any conflicts anywhere – have minimal tech skills myself but learning –
    Thanks

    Thanks for the information.

I have not used GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting so not familiar with it.

I think it would be a good idea to figure out the issue on the staging site before making the changes like.

Can you see in the source code of the staging site if it is trying to use the cdn to load the css and js files?

Is the CDN setup through a plugin in the site? Can you disable it in the staging site and see if that helps?

Can you share a link to your staging site?

    Let me know.

    Thanks

Thanks there’s something learned – url gone link above

The cdn uses cdn-linker plugin to redirect to cdn url

I have purged the cdn today just in case…

Thanks so much for your time

Ok thanks for the link. Sorry I missed it earlier for some reason.

I checked it out and you are using The Events Calendar 3.10 with the Events Calendar Pro 3.9.3.

Both plugins need to be updated to 3.10.

Do you have an account where you can get the latest version of Pro?

If not you will want to downgrade the Events Calendar to 3.9.3.

Also it appears on your site the css is not loading correctly. I tried to use some of the links in the source code to see what was there and they are all blank for the Events Calendar.

It maybe that the staging site cannot update the cdn and so it has blanked our the files.

I think you need to turn off the cdn on the staging site to do a true test of this.
