There is no save button and absolutely no way to know if anything is actually being done.

I’ve just spent the last 15 minutes trying figure this thing out… Completely lost as to how to get images in a category.

I spent the first 12 minutes trying to figure out how to edit images in list view and then went to YT for a tutorial. Found one published in February 2018 that shows a save button and collection at the bottom of the page when in grid view.

Tried that but I don’t have the save button anywhere, nor anything that tells me I don’t need it…Which actually, you do if you want to know what is going on or control it at all.

This idea of using WP’s auto-save feature simply doesn’t work nor is it user friendly in this use case. I say doesn’t work because I selected 4 images and they ‘somehow’ appeared in the category I ticked on the right. When I went to do 30 images, only 1 was added. Do I have to sit and wait for some period of time?

    CAN YOU SAY CONFUSING?

    Hello,

    (1) Nothing has changed in the list view in comparison with the pure WordPress when the plugin is active, except the additional filters. To edit images just click “Edit” as usual.

    (2) In the grid view, you do not have any save button because, again, it is how pure WordPress works. Just set a checkbox and a category is assigned as it happened for 4 images you mentioned.

    (3) If you wish to edit categories in bulk, it’s a premium feature so far. There is the save button that had been added because of the performance issues and can be turned off, by the way, because the pure WordPress does not offer any button to save image metadata and just does it on the fly.

    (4) The plugin is doing its best in being as much WordPress-esque as possible, it’s our goal and we will continue pursuing it. I am not sure how not being compelled to click the button on every image saving can be not user-friendly.

I am very sorry for your 15 minutes! I feel your pain since I spent 3 years writing and supporting the plugin to receive reviews like this.

Really? It’s called a review for a reason and this was my experience. And the answer… Ya, not congruent with support people I want to work with… zero empathy towards the end user (client) experience at all.

I’m happy your plugin has lasted 3yrs, cudos to you, but the lack of a save button still makes it ‘not’ user friendly nor ‘intuitive’. It may be native WP in ‘some’ areas to auto-save but lack of a save button when trying to create a ‘group’ of images simply confuses people, even people who’ve been doing this stuff for a while not to mention having to explain it to a client.

    Honestly, good luck man…

    (1) I am a woman.

    (2) Can’t say I feel I lost too much not being ‘congruent’ to a user with the sense of entitlement like yours.

Glad I was able to cheer you up!

On the subject for anyone interested: Enhanced Media Library HAS Save Changes button in its premium version for the bulk edit. The button can be turned ON or OFF by your desire. This is described in documentation https://wpuxsolutions.com/documents/enhanced-media-library/configuration

Bulk edit is now available in the premium version only. This is explicitly stated in plugin’s description.

Everyone familiar with the notion of politeness is very welcomed to the support forum with any questions, concerns, and suggestions.

    Best,
    -Nadia
