A serious error has occurred on the site

Please add these lines temporarily in wp-config.php:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);

to see more informations in the logs.
Then click again on the Import button.

Don’t forget to remove these lines before switching to production.

Could you check with your webhost what the exact error is that should be in the PHP error log?

Thank you for the advice, I have already solved the problem. I have a PhocaGallery gallery on the Joomla website, but I don’t have a premium version of FG Joomla to WordPress yet and therefore no add-on for importing PhocaGallery. I thought that the photo gallery will be ignored during the import and only articles are imported, but the plugin apparently tried to import the gallery as well, which the free version cannot do, so the import ended with an error. So before importing I had to check the Skip media checkbox and then everything was imported without any problems.

For your information, if you want to import your PhocaGallery galleries to WordPress, you need:
– the Premium version of FG Joomla to WordPress: https://www.fredericgilles.net/fg-joomla-to-wordpress/
– and the PhocaGallery add-on: https://www.fredericgilles.net/fg-joomla-to-wordpress/phoca-gallery/
