• Now there may be more than a single page/post with the issue, but we haven’t found one so far. This issue is totally perplexing to me.

To clarify, when I say the page fails to load I really mean that. It fails to load server side. This isn’t a trivial JavaScript issue.

We’ve had debug enabled on a copy site that also shows the issue and it didn’t reveal anything. What is clear is that if the page id of the problem page is added to the exclusion list inside ethe plugin settings, then the page renders instantly without issue.

How on earth could the plugin be causing this ? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I don’t see any error here – at the moment the page referred in your post loads without issue and PhotoSwipe opens as expected.

Whenever you have a server side “page does not load” error, you have to check the log of your webserver for error messages. Usually PHP errors on server side will show up there.

Edit: is there a reason why you use PhotoSwipe 4 and not the current version 5? Version 4 has major issues with newer iPhone devices and should not be used for new websites. It’s only there for backwards compatibility but you should consider changing the version 5 as soon as possible.

What I’ve seen is that testing in incognito browser sessions usually fixes the issue for me. So this is why some users don’t see the issue, it does seem to also be related to a cookie.

I’ve tried deleting them one at a time and it seemed to show that the “wordpress-settings-1” cookie, once deleted allowed my normal browser session to start loading the page again. This is even more confusing to me because this is a cookie used just for admin settings in theory. Anyhow, ignoring the admin part, is there anything in a cookie that could alter how your plugin works and could possibly cause an issue if not set correctly ?

Neither my plugin nor PhotoSwipe does care for any cookies, so your issue may be some other plugin or the template you use which does not work correct, when there is a specific client setting active.

As I already said: just must check the log of the webserver for server side error, there is no other way to find the problem.
