• A single post on my site seems locked in the past. When I view the post in any browser, an old version of the page appears with sidebars as they were some time ago, the Shareaholic buttons are a style I stopped using months ago, etc. When the I view the post within WordPress, same thing happens plus the black tool bar across the top doesn’t appear.

I’ve looked at a dozen other posts at random and this issue doesn’t repeat with any other post I’ve found. If you look at any other post on my site, you’ll see how the post page sidebar is supposed to look.

I’ve cleared caches numerous times and I’ve edited and updated the post–didn’t cure the problem.

I’ve no idea if this is a clue, but I’ve noticed visiting the page appears to generate two entries in W3 Total Cache’s 404 Event log. The “attempted URL”s recorded in the log are:
    /wp-content/uploads/et_temp/Blog-Thumbnail-Image-8243_74x74.jpg
    and
    /wp-content/plugins/sexybookmarks/images/share-wealth.png

    The offending post:

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • That page shows this at the bottom:

<!– Dynamic page generated in 0.754 seconds. –>
    <!– Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2013-09-29 11:36:32 –>

    Try clearing the SuperCache plugin.

I use W3 Total Cache not SuperCache, but in any case I’ve both cleared all caches and the page cache several times with no effect.

I may have once used SuperCache–maybe I was at the time this post was current. But that was long ago.

Well, that page is being served with that code at the bottom – did you previously use SuperCache? See if this helps your get rid of it completely:

I’ve read through that link, thanks. I’m not seeing any remnants of SuperCache in my site’s files.

Looks to me the misbehaving page was generated by SuperCache 29 Sep 2013. It lives on somewhere and is immune to cache clearing I initiate today through W3 Total Cache. Does this make any sense?

What do you think of re-installing SuperCache, clearing caches through it, then uninstalling it? Seems like there should be an easier remedy…

Might republishing the post cure the problem? Or editing the permalink?

That all seems strange indeed – I’d try recreating the post.

Fyi, I figured out what was happening.

I found a directory in the the root with the name net-worth-how-are-you-doing — same as the permalink of the offending file. I have no idea how this directory got there. In that directory was an index file apparently containing the frozen-in-time post. I renamed this directory, and the problem went away.
