• I’ve never in my life worked with a wysiwyg editor so horrible to use. Here are just a few of the “highlights”

? I have a dark site with white text – and text is also white in Gutenberg, but so is the background so there is no way to see what you are editing.
? The image gallery function looks great when you first use it, but any time you go back into the editor screen it has an error saying This block contains unexpected or invalid content – and then I lose all my settings, images, URLS etc. Every Single Time.
? It used to be a couple of clicks to put an image into the body of the text and align it left or right – now it took a YouTube tutorial to work out how to do it.
? In fact, everything takes three times as long.

I reverted back to Classic Editor within a few hours and every time I decided to give it another try I am reminded why Classic is so much better.

Get rid of this outrageously bad crap.

    Hi @paulychilds,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m sorry that your experience with the block editor has not been great.

I have a dark site with white text – and text is also white in Gutenberg, but so is the background so there is no way to see what you are editing.

Given that your theme is dark, you may be able to solve this problem by specifying your theme has a dark background https://developer.www.ads-software.com/block-editor/developers/themes/theme-support/#dark-backgrounds.

The image gallery function looks great when you first use it, but any time you go back into the editor screen it has an error saying This block contains unexpected or invalid content – and then I lose all my settings, images, URLS etc. Every Single Time.

Is this problem still happening with WordPress 5.3? Do you any plugins installed that interact with the block editor? Would it be possible to share the markup of the gallery block that is invalid?

It used to be a couple of clicks to put an image into the body of the text and align it left or right – now it took a YouTube tutorial to work out how to do it.

There are many ways to insert an image, and we try to make the process simple. E.g., If you drag & drop a single image from your desktop into the editor, you will insert an image.
What improvements do you think we can make to make this process easier?

In fact, everything takes three times as long.

Would it be possible to provide other examples of actions that now take a much longer time to execute besides inserting images?

Thank you in advance for any additional insights you may provide!
