• Years ago, the developer of the ACF plugin made a huge mistake, and sold it to a hosting company.

Delicious Brains then made the same mistake btw – and I so hope that the day will come when plugin developers become more responsible with their choices of whom to sell to.

Anyways, the original ACF plugin is one of the most wonderful things that ever happened in the WP landscape, and I welcome this change that means the code base is in the hands of the community now.

I also hope Automattic will give SCF special focus so that the development can keep up with that of the WPEngine-owned and -developed ACF. (This will be competition for years!!)

  • Is it in the hands of the community or in the hands of Automattic? Because you said both but Automattic is absolutly not the community…

Is in the hands of… as in appropriated. So WordPress can just take any developers plugin and that’s ok with you?
