A theme like this and how to edit it?

  • I am new to wordpress and it hasn’t been really easy figuring out how things go about here. I have a website that I like (with three blocked columns across the screen representing services provided) and I was hoping to find an almost idenitical theme but finding it isnt easy. I was ok with it and I went with Shell-lite theme.

    Now the problem is I can’t figure out how to make it fetch the data in the front page from database. I had to go to front-page.php and home.php to make my actual change.

    I read deleting it would change it but when I did delete front-page.php, my homepage became my latest page or if I set reading settings to post, an ugly way of displaying my posts.

    The website will have pages, not posts.

    So, how do I make homepages fetch data from database while preserving the initial front-end look?

  • Hey sammyci,

    Since the very beginning Shell Lite was designed to use front-page.php. The only way to display your latest posts in homepage is deleting front-page.php file from the theme. Keep in mind that this file will be restored with the next update of the theme.

    However, if you want to update the content of the homepage, you need to use Customizer => Shell Lite Options
