• I’ve used Ultimate Member on multiple client websites for years, including the extensions for integrating with MailChimp and WooCommerce. UM has more functionality than any other free membership plugin I’ve seen, and the paid extensions are well worth their reasonable price. The core requirement from the client (a non-profit organization) was being able to sell membership subscriptions online, including online payment for various levels of membership and automatic handling of annual renewals, invoices, and payments. Other key features are the many different ways to restrict content, being able to set up user roles with different levels of access, custom form builders for registration, profile, etc., and the linkages with Mailchimp and Woo that greatly reduce the amount of work for the organization’s volunteers.
The support articles on their website showing how to set up the plugin are detailed and have good screen shots. The support staff know their products intimately and have provided good answers to all my questions. The plugin and extensions have a lot of moving parts and setup screens that can sometimes seem confusing if you are using a lot of the available features, but you can also keep things pretty simple if you are running a more basic site.
