I am unable to log in as an admin to my website. Thus, I cannot make any changes to my website. When I try to log in, a white “warning” page loads and says:

“Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/09/11001209/html/wp-content/themes/glossy-stylo/functions.php:144) in /home/content/09/11001209/html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 896”

Previous to this happening, I was logged in as admin in my website and updating the html code for Google Analytics. Instead of just putting the Google Analytics code in the footer page, I wasn’t thinking and pasted it onto the other template pages. And when I got to the “header” page I tried to paste the Google Analytics script code and that’s when It wouldn’t let me save. That was first time I got this warning page.
And then I realize, “oops I screwed up.” The problem is that as soon as I got that warning, WP wouldn’t allow me to make any more changes to ANYTHING. I just keep getting that new page loaded with the same “header” warning.

I’m using Mac OS and Safari. I did reset Safari cache. And that’s when I then tried to log back into my site as admin and now can’t log in.

I’m a beginner at this. This is obviously my error, but I don’t know how to fix it. My hosting service cannot fix it. Any ideas? I’m stuck!! thanks.

  • Using ftp or the file manager your host provides, rename themes/glossy-stylo to themes/glossy-stylo-old

That should force WordPress to open with the default theme.

Thanks for the reply. I called my hosting company’s customer service to walk me through your instructions, just to make sure I updated the right files etc. But because they couldn’t offer me specific support on this, they suggested I just restore my site to yesterday.

So I restored my site to yesterday’s files which erased my mistake from this morning and now it’s all good. Once again I’m able to log in and save changes, etc.
