I have no idea how to get help with this, so I’m taking a bit of a shot in the dark here.

I am a content creator and sell my work on specific platforms.

Today I found a website that has posted my work. It’s visible for free or in higher quality for a subscription price on this site. I did not give them permission to use my work and want to contact them to take it down, but they have no contact info on their site.

I typed /wp-admin at the end of their URL and, sure enough, a WordPress login screen came up, so I know they’re based on WordPress.

Is there some way to contact them despite not having anything on their site?

Or is there some way to report this activity directly to WordPress? Because WordPress is hosting this site with an abundance of copyright material that they do not have permission to post…

  • Hi @goddesskayliex

Have you sent out a DMCA notice?

I don’t know where to send it. Most sites have an email dedicated to sending DMCA takedown requests or at least support emails, but this site has nothing.

That appears to just be for wordpress.com though, unless I’m misunderstanding?

www.ads-software.com does not providing hosting for sites, it provides the software for other people to build their own sites on their own hosts. WordPress’s philosophy and bill of rights permit people to use WordPress software for any reason they want, without any enforcement over legality or illegality. We leave that up to the webhosts. In cases of theft, abuse, harassment, or other such behavior, your best recourse is to contact their web host directly. You can use WHOIS to determine where they’re hosted, as well as resources like https://www.whoishostingthis.com to find relevant information.

You understand correctly. That link (I archived the post as it doesn’t help at all) is for WordPress.COM only. It has zero to do with any self-hosted site.

Steve’s advice is the only thing anyone can recommend. Use that link, try to identify the host provider and contact that provider about this.
