AAM with Admin Menu Editor

    Hello, first I want to congratulate you for this great plugin, the settings offered are really useful. I’m having an issue with another plugin, Admin Menu Editor. After saving the changes (hide a menu, create a new menu), they appear as wanted on the left, but when I consult the backend menu in the AAM page, it’s always the default menu that appears. I’m not an expert with capabilities, but I thought it might be caused by a permission to be given to the administrator, but looking at the list that AAM is showing me, Menu Editor appears in Settings with manage_options as capability. I also emptied the cache memory of my browser, but the problem persists. Strangely, this problem does not exist with the plugin Client Dash, but I want to use Admin Menu Editor. I planned to raise this issue in their support page, but before I wanted to know what you think about it. Sorry if my english is not perfect, I use a translator. Thank you!

    hi @philipnormandin I am not sure if I am on the right page here. So you are trying to hide a Menu you created on Admin Menu Editor using AAM? Is this the case?

    Can you be more specific please on the issue. If you can provide an example then that would be very helpful.

    Hello @noelalvarez, that’s exactly what I’d like to do, hide menus created with Admin Menu Editor, for different roles, through AAM. For example, by rearranging the menus and sub-menus, I created a menu grouping the pages for plugins that touch the database, so I would like this menu not to be accessible to a particular administrator. But this new menu does not appear in the backend menu that AAM displays, nor any other change made with Admin Menu Editor.

    I see. Philip, so if you are adding custom menu with functions with Admin Menu Editor does it have custom capabilities for each created menu? Coz if it does, then manage those custom menus by adding the custom capabilities for each function/menu you created. Just add them manually on the Capability lists.

    Noel, I think what you suggest is the best solution for using Admin Menu Editor. After exploring the documentation of WordPress, I opted for another solution, code myself my modified menus in functions.php. Thus, the changes appear in the Backend Menu displayed by AAM. I can then better control access. Thank you!
