• Since this plugin seems to be abandoned by the author, it is only a matter of time before it creates a security issue or stops functioning with a future wordpress update. Has anyone found a suitable replacement?

    Hi @srinig
    I’m like everybody, hoping you’ll find time to update the plugin!
    Whish you luck and thanks for the work you’ve been doing for years!

    Someone suggested I delete the Quotes Collection plugin and upload again. This is an old Quotes Collection, before there was json export. Deleting the plugin would most likely delete all the quotes.

    My problem is that I have restored a web site from an old xampp on Windows XP into xampp on Windows 7, on the newest WordPress, and Quotes Collection doesn’t work in it. I have a ton of quotes in this old web site.

    I am desperate to find out precisely, step by step, HOW to update my existing Quotes Collection plugin manually, so that it will work again. I know it can be done, there were instructions online years ago from the plugin creator, but who knows where they are now.

    I can’t afford to lose all these quotes, it was a ton of work. And they all have images included, which was a lot of extra coding. It’s a history web site.

    Could anyone please help me, explain how to go into my existing Quotes Collection plugin folder and manually update it with Srini’s files from Github? I have no clue what to do.

    Thank you.`

    ‘Scuze my language, but I don’t give a rat’s ass about any alleged security issue with Quotes Collection. It’s gorgeous, there’s nothing like this plugin out there to compete. I’ll add a security plugin to my site and keep using Quotes Collection.

    While I don’t disagree, that’s not really how security plugins work. I’d love to see an updated version of this plugin. If the developer wants to release the source or wants to charge for it, I’d be very happy.

    Hi. I have a font-size problem with Quotes Collection. The section where we identify the author of the quote is followed by the source (publication name). In the original Quotes Collection, the font on both the author and source was the same size. Perfect. At some point, up until September 2021, the font on the source of the quote has been very enlarged, bigger than the text of the author, and even bigger than the text of the quotation itself.

    I would like to restore the font size on the publication name to match the size on the author’s name.

    Does anyone know how to reduce the font size on the source (publication name) directly in the plugin itself?

    Thanks in advance.

    @nsim2021 Usually, such sudden changes in the font sizes has little to do with the plugin itself, it could be due to some change in the theme you are using, or maybe some other plugin declaring styles for the element. I haven’t specified any particular size for these elements because different websites use different themes and we don’t want to interfere with the design of the widgets as defined in the theme.

    You can try adding the following code in quotes-collection.css file, or at the bottom of your theme’s style.css or some kind of a custom CSS option. Change the font size to any value you want.

    .quotescollection-quote cite.source {
    	font-size: 14px;
    }

    Wow. Thank you so much. I really appreciate this.
    It’s a theme from 2015, and it hasn’t changed at all; I haven’t allowed updates, but I don’t remember ever getting a notice to update it.

    So, I will check out all my other plugins, first, to see if deactivating them one at a time has any effect on restoring the perfect font size.

    When are you going to put this gorgeous plugin back online? There are very few plugins I have encountered over the years that are worth paying for. This is definitely one I would pay for. Why don’t you just go commercial? I’d be your first customer.

    Thanks for your time, and have an excellent day, Srinig.

    Hello. Do you have an ETA on reactivating the plugin at www.ads-software.com, @srinig?

    Looking for an alternative to Quotes Collection

    any ideas?

    I dug it out of the Wayback Machine, I’m using it anyway.
    I have it on a dozen or more web sites, I really need it.

    A possible alternative could be a slider plugin that will slide text and has arrows back and forth or radial dots underneath.

    Just to give you an idea of what I tinkered with, you might be able to improve on this.

    There’s a plugin called “Slide Anything – Responsive Content / HTML Slider and Carousel”. It shows up in your sidebar as “SA Sliders”. Here’s its wordpress catalogue page:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/slide-anything/

    Descrpition: “Slide Anything allows you to create a carousel/slider where the content for each slide can be anything you want – images, text, HTML, and even shortcodes. This plugin uses the Owl Carousel 2 jQuery plugin, and lets you create beautiful, touch enabled, responsive carousels and sliders.”

    I tinkered with it, putting white text on a black background in a slider to create a series of slides, each with one quotation. Only problem is, the plugin controls indicate “Navigation arrows”, but the arrows don’t show up for me, don’t know why. I had checked “Show pagination” (thinking it might be radial buttons) but that didn’t seem to work for me, either. I’ve never bothered to ask the developer. You could put in a support question if the arrows don’t come up for you.

    Sample quotation using SA Slider: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZNhBjVZykXP0HCltqpFCpotG2WFPRVEx4Lk

    Sample (top half) of the SA Slider controls: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZvhBjVZukOre4zBH4k4jmTMH3QXfV3lQOc7

    If that plugin doesn’t work for you, maybe you can find a similar plugin that has arrows or radial dots.`

    Good luck!

    I decided to use the strong testimonials plugin. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/strong-testimonials/

    And am using it on a sidebar. So instead of testimonials I out in quotes. And then have strong testimonials randomly rotate the quotes.

    Much better than using an abandoned plugin as this one is

    I recommend switching
