Ability to disable Photon Resizing on Gifs

The featured image on this CPT is a gif, which when having Photon apply resizing to, breaks the animation of the gif, only showing the user the animated section of the image.

I noted that this is called out on https://developer.wordpress.com/docs/photon/ under limitations as:

Some animated gifs break if resized or transformed via Photon.

Is there a way to configure Photon to not do this to featured images that are gifs, or can you provide another solution to prevent this from occurring?
