My client is selling items from Canada and charge taxes.

A customer was able to pass an order and pay with PayPal Express checkout in USD without taxes. The problem is that the customer lives in Canada. In the WooCommerce admin panel, the customer billing and shipping addresses are correct (in Canada) but currency in USD without taxes.

    Hi @cognitif,

    Greetings from WebToffee support.

Please share the name or the plugin zip file of the currency convertor plugin you are using. Also, have you disabled the tax calculations for the USD currency? Please share the PayPal log (WooCommerce > Status > Logs) of the affected order as well.
You may use this link to share the logs and plugin zip file (if any).

    Hi!

I think we are misunderstanding each other haha.

There is no multicurrency plugin activated atm in the website.

Here’s what my client said to us:

A customer with billing and shipping to Canada was able to checkout using US dollars and not paying Canadian taxes using paypal. We contacted paypal and they informed us that paying USD or CAD are options on buyer’s side.

The customers can use whatever currency they have on their PayPal account regardless of the location.

Is there any way to ensure that taxes are always added when billing and shipping to Canada, even if the customer manages to pay in USD because of their paypal settings?

In short, the customer changed the currency in PayPal, not in the website.

    Hi @cognitif,

    Thanks for the clarification.

You may set up a tax rule for Canada on the site. If the payments are processed without tax for the orders through the Express or Smart buttons, you may disable the Skip review page option.

    Let me know if anything.
