• soon enough i plan to upgrade my acct at my hosting company and get the MySql database and i plan to try out WordPress before the others. for a few reasons. price ;), easy to install, and wBloggar. but i had a few questions before i invest my time into any of the cms or weblogging scripts
    1. can i have multiple templates and post per page on the site. because i plan to have the site have multiple styles. for my deep thoughts section it’s supposed to be the date and then some orange text. nothing special. my blog i want it to lok the way i kinda have it posted so far but nothing too extreme. and everything else is going to be the same. i know that if i change one template it chages everything. that rocks, but what if i want differnt kinds of looks depending on the style of that certain page?
    2. can i post page sized posts and then it goes to another page? alot of my material on my website i do not want it to look like a blog but rather a site with alot of articles. can i do that with wordpress? for instance. i wanted to write a page of some certain nonsence. it 1. either gets too long and makes a seperate page for me with a link or 2. make the pages myself. when i want to make a new post i can create a new page on my own. that would rock all kinds of awesome
    3. posting pictures. can i? can i do a gallery? or do i need other software?
    4. i do not know php. would i be able to change the templates in dreamweaver? that is what i used to make my site. if i could change it in there that would be great
    5. if you don’t mind me asking….what fourm software is this? i’d like to use it on my site if it’s free :). otherwise i guess i’ll use phourm fourms software.
thank you for your responses and help

    4. u can use dreamweaver but u will end up using the ciding window most of the time.

    • 1) Yes, https://www.alexking.org/index.php?content=software/wordpress/styles.php
If you have different pages ie: index.php blah.php, you can easily tell each to use a different stylesheet as well.
    • 2) Yes, you can have excerpts, requiring your user to click a link to see the whole thing. I believe there is also a plugin to paginate a specific post.
    • 3) Yeah, tons of stuff floating around for it.

Search the forums and you will find many other implementations and mergers with other software, such as gallery.
    • 4) You can change them around in dreamweaver, however it will not display post data. Dreamweaver won’t access your database to retrieve it. Fortunately you don’t need to know much about PHP to edit index.php. You’ll find it to be mostly moving tags around – very similar to blogger.
    • 5) miniBB, free I believe

whoops for the clone post. i could not see the new post on this browser for some reason. thanx for the help. i’ll be back here often

On dreamweaver all I get r a bunch of squares that say php?? How do I edit the template on dreamweaver??

What I would encourage you to do is to go and look at as many WP sites as possible. Its the only way to really get a feel for what goes on.

    2) More than that, WP has a special tag &lt–page–> that tells it to put a “Page 2” (3, 4, 5, etc) at that point, simulating pages.
You can see how it work right here on my site… just scroll down, the page nav looks like this: Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 where the numbers 2 – 9 are the different pages.
