Absolute Fantastic Plugin! Great

  • Wow big thanks to the author. If you are looking to improve your taxonomization this is just simply a great plugin. It allowso you putting tags into groups with a lot of benefits. It allows some kind of “Categories for Tags”.

    Pro
    – Clean sourcecode /engineered
    – Supports Custom Post Types / Custom Taxonomies => Great! (and evne allows them to be configued = greatest!)

    Cons
    – Nothing found

    Potential improvements
    – In the “Tags Metabox” on the Post Screens, when typing, WP fetches the “Suggested Tags”(=search suggestions), display which Group a Tag belongs to

    – In the “Tags Metabox” introduce a DropDown to limit the the “Suggested Tags” to a specific Group that will be displayed.

    – In the “Tags Metabox”, when creating Tags on the Fly, allow specifiying the Group this tag will be in (otherwise you have to later switch to the tags managment and assign the gorup = lots of lost time)

    Note: But I tried starting to work on this and had to give up. Wordress does not offer any hooks that would be required. So if this wouzld be implemented, it would have to be implemented from scratch with a new ajax_action and complete new metaboxes… So this is a lot of work (I though I could hack the existing metabox, in some plicaes data would have to be filtered, but there a no hook, so no chance using existing code).

    I also looked into possibilities to add tag groups into the edit post screens. You actually would have to remove the current tags box and write your own – a major change that would probably interfere with the core functionality (particularly the Ajax parts) and other plugins. Or you just append the group name to every tag – which could be kind of ugly and rather confusing if names get too long. Maybe I will try to add it one day as an option and keep that feature on the wishlist.
