absolute path problems when making site live

So we got our theme nice and set up on a development server, using the IP before switching the domain name to it. We tried to use find and replace to convert the image paths from the IP to the domain name. On posts and most other sites/themes, this works.
In this one, instead of just changing a few image path (logo etc) from IP to domain name, it causes the entire theme to revert to default. It loses all customizations, even color and on and off switches for sections.

Is there any way to switch those images without breaking the whole theme?
