• OKAY, I am embarrassed that I left this horrible Review. I am leaving what I said below so you can see what it was. After I wrote this, I went back in to the site and looked around to make sure I was correct. What I found was purely my fault. The bad images were only showing up in the hero slider on the front/home page of the site. I found a setting in the slider plugin that I vaguely remember changing, and this was the source of the bad image problem. When I researched this problem before, I had concluded it was from Siteground’s plugin. I had now proved it was my entire fault. So, Siteground, my humble apology.

The compression from this plugin is not “lossless” it is very destructive to the images. Yes, it compress them, but does so poorly. Use at your own risk. I am facing re-upload and linking of well over 300 images. This is the fix according to Siteground tech support. Be Careful. Too bad I can’t leave a Zero Star Rating.

    Hello @vintagefilm,

I am sorry to hear you had issues with the image compression feature.

The visual change in quality should be practically non-detectable with the algorithm we use. However, the image optimization feature also provides you with the capability to adjust the compression level to your preference. If you encounter issues with the compression, you can try using one of the lower compression levels.

The plugin additionally provides the option to create backups of all original images. This will create a copy of the source image before the optimization process begins, enabling you to effortlessly adjust the compression levels in the future or restore the images to their original state.

    Best Regards,

    Tsvetan Mitev

Thanks for the reply. Here is the site vintagefilmchannel.com you decide whether the changes are undetectable. Backup of original images is off by default and I don’t have them on the site any longer. So too late to try lower compression. Bad implementation all around.
