Abysmal Support from PayPal and Unreasonable Demands
-
PayPal places unreasonable demands on the merchant (copy of drivers license and copy of invoice on multiple transactions) and then waits 21 days before transferring the customer’s money to the merchant on the first transaction. After the first transaction, PayPal holds the customer’s money for a minimum of 3 business days while still demanding a copy of drivers license and invoice. PayPal does not inform the merchant of the demands that they have placed on the transaction either by email or text. The only way for the merchant to discover that there are demands and what they are, is to login to their merchant account. PayPal also places demands on the customer (even repeat customers) without informing the customer or the merchant. PayPal currently has a hold on a transaction for $115 that was placed by a customer on Feb 22, 2023. The customer received their merchandise on Feb 27, 2023 by USPS with a tracking number. Customer has acknowledged receiving their merchandise and yet PayPal refuses to release the money. I patiently waited over 9 hours on a Chat Line with PayPal while their website repeatedly attempted to log me out because hours would elapse between responses from the PayPal support team. After 9 hours, the PayPal support team finally told me that they had placed demands on the customer to which the customer had not yet responded but they refused to tell me what those demands were. In addition to PayPal’s abysmal customer service, the fees are extremely high – at least 50% more than other companies charge. I am saddened that WooCommerce would partner with such a company. It gives PayPal a credibility that they do NOT deserve.
