Accepting debit cards

    Latest version 2.0.19 installed, WP 5.3.2
    The plugin works fine for acceptng credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) but although it says “Credit or debit card”, it dus not recognise my debit card with error “Your card number is invalid”.
    Card used: Bancontact / maestro card, issued by my Belgian bank.
    Debit card: card where payment has immediate transfer of the money from buyer account to seller account.

    I want to be able to get payments from all kinds of debit cards, such as the “Carte Bleu” in France, Belgian cards, Holland, Germany, UK… as we get all kinds of visitors from all over the world in our B&B in Bruges.

    It appears to me that although Stripe mentions accepting credit and debit cards, all plugins seem to be limited to credit cards only?

    Hi Kris.

    Stripe accepts debit cards fine, but, perhaps, only those that are supported by global payment processors like Visa or Mastercard etc.

    This is what Stripe says regarding “Carte Bleue”:

    Stripe can accept Carte Bleue cards that are co-branded with Visa or MasterCard.

    The fields in our plugin where you enter card details (number, valid until etc) are controlled by Stripe (this is PCI DSS complaint requirement), so we cannot “make” those accept cards it doesn’t want to accept for some reason.

    I’d suggest you to contact Stripe directly and ask them your questions: https://stripe.com/contact.

    It would be nice if you can share your reply from Stripe. If there’s anything we can do to add support for those card (code-wise), we’ll be more than happy to implement it.
