We are doing some tests to ensure our web agency’s sites are accessible according to WCAG and our tries to use the cookiebar with only keyboard has been unsuccsessful. It’s possible to tab-navigate to the buttons (settings and accept button), but not possible to accept or open settings by using the enter key.

Are these actions coded to be reachable by mouse only? Is it possible to implement accessible event handlers so that the actions can be performed by anyone?

Best wishes, thank you for all your work to make it easier to work with cookies and GDPR.

  • I have the same request for keyboard accessibility.

It would be great (as well as necessary for many countries) if the cookie bar Accept/Reject buttons would be:
    1) first to get focus on tab (instead of being the last ones)
    2) be selectable with the Enter key

Would it be possibile to get that in the next version? Thanks in advance!

    Hi @rdc2701, @wearefluid,

Thanks for reaching out to Webtoffee!

Although the plugin is not currently compatible with all accessibility standards, it is definitely in our plans for future development. Stay tuned for updates.

    Hi Webtoffee,

I highly appreciate your plugin and your efforts to make the plugin even better, but you mentioned future developments on this also 1,5 years ago ??

I understand that making the whole plugin WCAG compatible can be a large task, but it would be great to have at least the Accept & Reject buttons actionable with keyboard [Enter], as the cookie bar otherwise completely blocks access to the site for keyboard-only users.

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

I’m happy to help improve accessibility for this plugin. As it stands, it can’t be used by any websites that need WCAG compliance which is a huge number of sites. It wouldn’t take much time to make this plugin a lot better for keyboard users.

    Hi benqwerty,

That would be a real help, thanks for your offer. Let’s hope webtoffee accepts your efforts.
