Dear Easy Table of Contents Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to report some accessibility concerns identified by the market-leading tool Accessibe in your “Easy Table of Contents” plugin. The tool flagged specific elements that seem to lack proper role attributes, affecting the accessibility for users with disabilities.

The main issue pertains to the use of font icons, SVGs, or images within the plugin-generated content that serve as spacers, decorations, or have their purpose already described by the content. According to accessibility best practices, such elements should include a “role” attribute that equals to “presentation” or “none” to improve screen reader user experience.

Here are examples of the elements flagged as problematic, noted from one of my website’s content pages. Please note that these elements may vary from page to page, but they suggest the general scope of the issue:

    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Das_Wichtige_zu_den_Kosten_der_Unterkunft_in_Kurze"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section end"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc title toggle"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Kosten_der_Unterkunft_gemaess_SGB_II"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Wie_werden_bei_Bezug_von_Buergergeld_die_angemessenen_Kosten_der_Unterkunft_ermittelt"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Weitere_Artikel_ueber_die_Kosten_der_Unterkunft"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Kosten_der_Unterkunft_und_Heizung_uebersteigen_den_Richtwert"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Bescheinigung_ueber_die_neuen_Kosten_der_Unterkunft_vor_einem_Umzug"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="KDU_in_deutschen_Staedten"></span>
    • <span class="ez toc section" id="Kosten_der_Unterkunft_in_Berlin"></span>

Could you please look into these issues and consider integrating the necessary role attributes in a future update? Enhancing the plugin’s compliance with accessibility standards would greatly benefit users relying on assistive technologies.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and a resolution of these accessibility concerns.

    Best regards,

    Roman Trushanov
