I updated one 1&1 hosted WP site to 3.01. It ws then necessary to update the MySql 4.0 running on 1&1 which I did, to MySQL 5.0. Having exported my data to my desktop I then imported it into MySQL5. I then edit-updated the 1&1 wp-config.php entries for DB name, DB user, DB password and DB host. Now, when I go to the site ‘https://www.bergiesplace.com/Newsite/’ the home page comes up but when I click on Site Admin I get a page saying I cannot upgrade because I’m still using MySQL 4.0.27.

    Help, please?

Double check with 1&1 to make sure the DB you’re pointing to was upgraded correctly.

It’s there. The question that’s bugging me is why wp-config is winding up looking at the MySQL 4.0 version (telling me that it’s not high enough to work with WP 3.01) when I’ve edited wp-config to look at MySQL 5.0. Is there some other wp- program that I also have to modify to point it towards MySQL 5.0?

No, it’s just in wp-config. Are you sure you’re using the right wp-config? The fact that you’re using a folder called ‘newsite’ makes me wonder if you updated the right file…

It’s now working. Back in my PC I edited wp-config for the new MySQL. (I had previously edited for it in the version of wp-config on 1&1). Then I uploaded the edited version from my PC and WP has now decided that all is well.

    Thanks for your interest.
