• Hi, I upgraded to 5.2 on a site and now am receiving the message below when I go to the wp-admin:

“The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

Unfortunately, I have not received an email with instructions…I see that there is a new recovery mode (https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/2019/04/16/fatal-error-recovery-mode-in-5-2/) But, it looks like it can only be accessed by using the link in the email, which I have not received.

Is there a way to recreate the email so I can view it on the server or is there another way to get the link to recovery mode?

i have a wordpress website to which i can login to the dashboard prefectly. but when i visit the front end it just shows the header and the remaining page shows blank what could be the issue. I have tried changing the theme, deactivated all the plugins. But theresult is the same. what could be the issue. i cant upload the image for reference as the option is not available.

I pulled up your link and the site was working fine for me.

In cases like this I would look at the server error logs to see what the problem is. Most likely it is a Theme issue or plugin issue.

You could also deactivate all plugins and test.

Had same problem, and solved it by trying this:

    yourdomainname.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode

    Try it!

Hi Davis @njawatech . I have been trying to reload Mail Poet to version 3.*.* but WordPress tells me it is already installed. Now quite a long time ago I used a tool called FileZilla to get access to my root files, change the name, reload, etc. etc. I have FileZilla still installed. But for the life of me I cannot remember how to do this process.

I wonder if you could please advise? I recall I needed my log in details (not a problem), but there was Port info and other stuff which I do not recall.

Can you advise (in simple steps) please?

    Yours,

    Crispin.

    Hi guys,

I am building my first ever website and since I updated plugins I am denied access and read the following message: “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

I have tried the link /wp-login.php?action=entered_recovery_mode as suggested in this thread but it ain’t working and have not received a link to my admin email address either . Have no access to admin panel.

What shall i do ? Any suggestions?
Thank you so much in advance for your time

-Sometimes if you just reload the error pages a few times it resolves itself.

-Or if you change the URL in the address bar and change it back to /wp-admin/ and reload sometimes the dashboard admin page will reload.

-Or if you click the back button and reload sometimes you can get to the admin dashboard and past the error screen.

Most of the time I can do the 3 things above and still get to the WP admin dashboard even though there is some kind of WP error.

If none of these things work you would need to deactivate all of the plugins to get it to load normally. You can do that by renaming the plugin directory to plugin2 or whatever.

Thank you @mpersinger for your input.
I have tried all of the above a few times but no joy unfortunately.

Would you have other suggestions I could give a go?

@mpersinger this works, renaming the plugins and then logging into admin

    thank you very much

    Hi,

Need a recovery link to the website. I got a mail stating I need to click on the recovery link I did but Undid it by mistake. How to I request for a link again? I am redesigning my website and keep getting error messages. Though the designs are updating as I go. Should I be worried? My website is gabturkey.com. The Mail also said the issue is arising because of Elementor Add ons plugin so I deactivated the plugin.

    Please help urgently

    Hello @gabturkey

The recovery link is generated by WordPress when an error occurs. I don’t know of any way to re generate it. But if your site continues to throw errors it should send out another recovery email.

If you are locked out of wordpress you could rename the plugins/ directory to plugins2/ via FTP access. This will deactivate all plugins on the site. Once you get logged in just rename the directory back to plugins/ and then start activating plugins until you figure out the problem.

Sometimes it is helpful to turn Debug = True in your wp-config.php file. This will show you some errors.

If there are issues with Elementor plugin I would submit those error messages to Elementor support.

I am really struggling with this and wou;ld appreciate some help if possible.

I had a crictical error and managed to disable the plugins via ftp. Then found the one creating the error. Unfortunately at the same time as the fatal error my email inbox on the server was full so we emptied to email folders.

The recovery email wasn’t received though. I can login in as admin using the extension suggested but cannot update any plugins as still says fatal error.

Is there another way of getting the recovery email? Or can someone please suggest another way to rectify this please? I don’t have a backup to go to

    Any help would be appreciated
