Accessing the index.html file to add html
-
Hi
I am very new to self-hosted WordPress, and am currently trying to connect my site with Pinterest. Pinterest requires that I verify my site by adding some html code to the index.html file. I know that WordPress does not make this visible and we have an index.php file instead, so where can I place this code to link my site to Pinterest? I have tried creating an index.html file in my File Manager (my hosting rep suggested this) and adding the code, but it made my site disappear! I’ve deleted that and am wondering what to do. I know others have faced this issue before but it’s not clear how they have resolved it. If anyone can assist that would be great.
Related but different query: I also want to add html code to create category RSS feeds and to display posts from a certain category, do I need to just make these amendments in the ‘html’ screen for the relevant post/page in my customiser?
Thanks
