• I am just reviving this site after having a very old template that I had abandoned for some time. I need some help with this site. Although I am logged in, there’s no link here to take to me to the back door or editing screens. Anyone know what’s wrong?

    Thanks.

What do you see when you go to https://shake-speares-bible.com/wp-admin/ ?

Thanks James. I see the login page but the login I used to login that was just assigned to me randomly doesn’t work there. What’s going on?

I think this may be something to do with some data base mixup. Last night I just cleaned out the site of old files to start over again and this morning I couldn’t login because they site wouldn’t recognize my password. I got that straightened out with the host but then got stuck at this point again.

    What do you think?

Try the steps at https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin to change your password directly in the database.

You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel.

How will that affect being able to find the WP control panel? I just don’t quite understand and want to make sure we’re on the same page.

Would you please clarify what you meant by “the login I used to login that was just assigned to me randomly doesn’t work there”?

I get a screen that looks like the index page but has not option for finding the control panel. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Ah, ok!

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
