• Whoops! I had the “beta tester” plugin activated, and I’d forgotten all about it. So when I saw the “there’s a new version” box, I went and updated.

I now find myself with v3.0 alpha 1.

It APPEARS to be working alright, but is there an easy way back?

Or am I actually OK just sticking with it like this? What sort of problems am I likely to have? I have a DB backup from 3 days ago if I HAVE to reload the DB…. worst thing is I might lose a few comments, but I use disqus so possibly not.

Beta tester plugin now deactivated! Or in fact is that the right thing to do?

  • Personally I’d just keep it on the alpha, and when 2.9.1 is released, I’d upgrade (downgrade?) to that. I’ve done this before with test sites and never had any troubles.

I can’t imagine trunk has anything particularly drastic in it at the moment apart from the 2.9.1 stuff anyway.

I haven’t actually been following trac to know though. Hopefully someone else around here will know more.

Deactivate the plugin, put 2.9.1 on the site manually.

It probably won’t hurt anything. trunk hasn’t diverged from the 2.9 branch hardly at all yet.

How do you find where the release notes are with an upgrade? i signed up for the mailing list but have no clue what’s in 3.0

There aren’t any release notes for the latest alpha (that I’m aware of). You would need to follow trac to see what’s going into the latest release.

There’s plenty of information about what WILL be in 3.0, but I doubt any of that has been implemented into trunk yet.

OK, thanks for those replies. I didn’t see them because no email notification came, again.

The only reliable way to get notified seems to be to create a seperate link in google reader to the thread rss then get new replies to emailed to me, but this is such a pain.

I’ve checked spam, nothing there – is it just me not getting notified of replies?

This website doesn’t do any sort of “email notification”. Too many users, too many emails.

If you want to get notified about threads, subscribe to the thread’s RSS feed in your feed reader.

    where is WP3.0 download link?

I upgraded to 2.9.2 and it works great. However, when I hit the upgrade button again, it tells me that there is another upgrade available. So, of course, I hit the button to upgrade and it is still 2.9.2. Don’t know why it just won’t let me know I have the current version. At least I hope so.
