After a recent update, the Accordion block became unavailable to add to new posts/pages. It still displays on pages where it already exists.

Is it being eliminated, or is this an unplanned omission?

    Hi @gretchenlouise,

Yes, I removed the Accordion block intentionally, though I should have said that in the Changelog.

Is the Core Details block enough for your new blocks?

It’s similar to the Genesis Blocks Accordion block.

I removed the Genesis Blocks Accordion block because Core now has the Details block.

Though maybe that Details block won’t match the styling you need.

What is the profit of removing functionality that users are accustomed to? Is there a noticeable speed advantage or?

Gotta chime in and agree that removing funtionality that users still use and are accustomed too is problematic. Why? For what?

I’m in the thick of added a Details block on a page with several Accordion blocks already in place. Lots of custom css needed to make them display the same. Arg…

Disappointed it was removed. Not a fan of the styling of the Details Block.

Solution for others… copy the block from another site and paste in your new site. Change content. Duplicate as needed.

Alternatively, you can add to your theme CSS – .wp-block-details summary { background: #f2f2f2; padding: 10px 15px; border-bottom: 5px solid #ffffff; } The border should be the background color of your page. I added the border because I was unable to add a margin below the details selector to get spacing between each detail block.

I agree. Why remove if there is no problem. I was just looking for it myself in a site I already use it in.

Just makes more work for us to figure out the problem. It’s still in the Studio Press documentation and in the plugin description:
