    Hello all,

First, I should say, I *tried* to search, but the search feature appears to be down at the moment.

I am looking for a plugin that would allow me to have users confirm their email address before they can login and start using the site. Basically, they register, they receive an email at the address they used, click/follow a link to confirm the address.

At the moment, anyone can register using any address they chose, and that can create problems down the road.

The process should be automated, it will not be possible, nor practical, to review each registration, particularly as users will want to start using the site as soon as possible, not wait for a human on the other side of the world to email them and ask them “is this a real email address”?

Is there anything like that anywhere? If not, how difficult would it be to do?

If there isn’t, I must admit, I’m surprised it’s not, it would seem to me to be a pretty basic feature to have. But of course, it might be there, I just haven’t found it ??

  • I am guessing you havent actually tried to register on your own blog ??

    This is how it works:

    1. user registers with their chosen login and email addy
    2. wordpress mails them a random password, the email the password is sent to is the one supplied in step 1.

They dont get a password unless they use an email address they have access to.

That sure seems like enough validation to me …?
