In the process of creating a new WP dot org account, I was prompted to enter both a URL and an address. I entered a URL and the physical address for the entity behind that URL, a non-profit news site. After I provided that info I became locked out of the account. Across a few emails with WP I was repeatedly told that the new account was not blocked. However, after sharing two screen shots I proved to WP that not only was I 1) blocked from logging in and 2) blocked from requesting a password reset, the new account was literally 3) “disabled”. Next WP informed me that an automated system flagged my account and that MAY HAVE BEEN because I provided a URL, or it MAY HAVE BEEN because I provided a physical address. The odd thing is that their same email said that I may have used one of those pieces of information in a “post”… but I never posted anything, I just filled out the form they provided. I am unsure how to proceed and my news organization is questioning my decision to base our entire platform on WP dot org. Any suggestions?

What was the username on the account?

This doesn’t make much sense, we don’t ask for a physical address, and having an account here doesn’t prevent you from using WordPress anywhere. www.ads-software.com itself isn’t hooked into WordPress sites in any way.

ActonExchange – my intent is to purchase services from WordPress using this account instead of my personal account. Giving WP money is my motivation for creating the account under ActonExchange’s name. Note that there was a period of time during which the associated email was forwarding to a Google Group email address, I have since changed that to a fully hosted email address. I only bring this up in case the automated flagger didn’t like the forwarding email address… but that’s no longer a reason to disable this account, even it it was a reason yesterday.

We don’t sell services or directly take money.

WordPress is free software, developed and supported entirely by volunteers. Donations to the non-profit WordPress Foundations keeps the site and forums online.

I see what happened, https://profiles.www.ads-software.com/actonexchange/ was caught by an automated anti-spam system, but it’s available now.

We only allow one account per person, so please let me know which one you’d like to limit: https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#do-not-create-multiple-accounts

There’s two things here. First, multiple accounts are not permitted and you have the one you created for this topic. Please use that one.

Two, brand accounts are not for the forums. Your other account is a brand account. While it is no longer disabled, that account will not be permitted to use the forum. It has been made a “Spectator” role. If you wish in the future to submit a plugin or theme to www.ads-software.com then you may use that other account.

But for posting or replying in the forums, you will not be able to use the account that was disabled.
