• Today I had my whole web hosting account suspended and was given this reason by my web host:

Your account was suspended due to high httpd useage on
    https://www.butlersheetmetal.com /tinbasherblog/wp-admin/

Fairly recently my blog was hacked and I installed bad behaviour and have noticed quite a few 412 precondition errors. I also password protected the login part of the blog from my Cpanel.

For the past three days I’ve been having problems with the initial login dashboard page not loading fully and am probably wondering if this is the issue to which they are referring.

I honestly don’t have a clue as to what the problem might be, but I don’t want to have to turn off certain plugins and resort to a less secure blog. Nor do I want my whole account suspending due to excessive http usage.

Anybody have a clue as to the problem?

    Thanks.

  • “/wp-admin/”
That would appear to be the strange part as normally only WP code is in that directory.

    Who is your host ?
Will they provide you with specifics ?

I’ve asked them to be more specific if they can.

They just asked me to remove the offending files.

There’s obviously the wp-admin folder and wp-admin file and when logging in, the dashboard page is the wp-admin page that they have listed and which ‘hangs’.

Those files exist on every 1.5.2 WP installation.
That is a lot of blogs.
If there was a problem with that code, it would never have been released.

It sounds like you have an odd host. Who are they ? (This is useful for other people searching for both hosting solutions and hosting problems)

Well I’ve honestly never had a problem with my host so far. In fact they’ve been more than helpful.

I don’t want to start naming and shaming as yet. ??

I’ve emailed them again and hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of this.

I’d just upgrade to 1.5.2 from 1.5, but I tried it via fantastico on another blog the other day and it went kaput.

I don’t want anything weird to happen to this one just yet.

Thanks for the prompt answers btw.

Why not upgrade manually? The procedure is very easy, and I urge you to avoid Fantastico at all costs.

I think it’s what I might have to do.

There aren’t any issues with upgrading manually having installed 1.5 originally via fantastico that you know of?

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

    Not that I know of.

Only that Fantastico would still think you have the old version installed but you can fix that by removing some files that Fantastico puts in your home directory, can’t remember off hand what they are but a quick google should turn them up.

    fantversion.php….

    (@pawoodster)

Yes, I know which files you’re referring to.

They’ve suspended all my domains again, which could prove problematic if I can’t acess my cpanel.

I may very well need a back-up host at this rate.

A Small Orange… I modified a plugin once and did something stupid that brought Apache to it’s knees, instead of just disabling my account they isolated where it was and disabled that particular plugin letting me know about it so I could fix my stupid mistake.

Now that isn’t to say they will do that every time but for that to be done even once I think is pretty amazing. ??

Well please feel free to share your host as I’m descending into internet hell.

below10host.com – and I do hope your climb out will be soon and short!

Had a look at them vk but I think I need a bit more oomph.

How do you like this latest from my hosting provider:

It’s always good to keep up with the latest versions. WordPress isn’t the most server friendly blog software available. However, we cannot force you to remove it.

If only they would un-suspend me so I could upgrade.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. While you’re checking out hosting options, be sure to check out iPowerWeb.com. I’ve been using them for over a year, and I haven’t had any problems. They’ve been quick to respond to any support requests, and when their base hosting plan (which I have) got a bump in space and transfer limit, they upped my plan free of charge. Good luck!
