Account update emails

Where can I configure how the “Account updated” emails get sent? Is there a default trigger for this or can this be configured somehow on the admin side? I would like users to get an email notification confirming the updates they have made on their profiles, but it seems none are getting sent at the moment. Or has this feature been disabled altogether since I cannot find any info on this from the forums or the UM site?
