    Hi,

We’ve integrated our Stripe account to handle payments for visitors who subscribe to our membership plans. However, we’ve encountered an issue where user accounts are being created even if the payment process isn’t completed.

For example, when a user fills out the details on the membership checkout page and proceeds to the Stripe payment page, their account is created even if they hit the back button before completing the payment. This allows users to access the site with an incomplete payment.

We would like to prevent user accounts from being created until the payment process is fully completed. Alternatively, we want to notify users that their payment is pending and restrict their access to content until the payment is completed. Additionally, we would like to automatically approve user memberships once the payment process is completed, instead of approving them manually.

We’ve attempted to disable registration through WordPress default settings, but this hasn’t resolved the issue, and we’re not receiving emails when a payment is pending.

Could you please assist us with this?

    Thank you.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to the Paid Memberships Pro team.

By default, Paid Memberships Pro creates a user account before initiating a payment or redirecting a member to the Stripe Checkout page. This was done to combat the issue of payments being processed but on occassion, not have the user account created.

This functionality is built in as the core functionality of Paid Memberships Pro and as such, cannot be turned off or removed.

Those that checkout but don’t make payment can potentially show up in the ‘Potential Spam’ tab under the Users page which you can then delete user accounts from there.

    Kind Regards,
    Jarryd
